Clift datang langsung ke sekretariat pendaftaran di kantor DPC PDIPP di Jalan Magelang-Yogyakarta, Muntilan, Kabupaten Magelang, Selasa (15//8/2017).
Penyalonan Clift Sangra ini tentu mengejutkan banyak orang.
Latar belakang Clift bukan dari dunia politik namun, dari dunia hiburan.
Alasan Clift terjun ke dunia politik adalah adanya dorongan untuk ikut memajukan Kabupaten Magelang, terutama di bidang seni dan budaya.
Ia menilai potensi Kabupaten Magelang luar biasa namun, belum berkembang maksimal.
“Potensi seni dan budaya di Kabupaten Magelang luar biasa, kebetulan latar belakang saya di bidang tersebut. Jadi saya ingin ikut mengembangkan seni dan budaya Kabupaten Magelang,” ujarnya.
Clift mendaftarkan diri ditemani oleh istri dan anak-anaknya.
Saat ini, Clift tinggal di Kampung Kebon Dalem, Kelurahan Potrobangsan, Kecamatan Magelang Utara, Kota Magelang.
Clift yang memilih PDIP sebagai kendaraan politik maju Pilkada Kabupaten Magelang 2018 karena ia menilai PDIP adalah partai yang solid.
